Oh, sleep, precious sleep

Oh, sleep, precious sleep.

You are desperately desired and entirely illusive.

Frenzied, fervent dreams – nightmares, even

are missed and mourned as it seems

that they are no more.

Oh, sleep, precious sleep,

you are such a fickle flirt

with your drowsiness you are such a tease

increasing the desire, the want, the need

to fall deeper into you.

Oh sleep, precious sleep,

please come back.

I don’t know what I did to dismay you so

I promise that I’ll change

I’ll do anything that you command.

Oh sleep, precious sleep,

stop being such a flirt –

enticing me to sleepiness and then

leaving me wanting, needing more

with nothing more than a wink & a smile.

Oh sleep, precious sleep

please come back

I miss you…
